Irving Park Road.
Sucks.
remember back when my store became a drive through? as in, a car went through it (april twenty-first for anyone who cares, NOT THAT FUCKING LONG AGO)? well. today, the store right next to us became one as well. i feel badly for the owners. it's a very small business, and it must suck for them. but more than that, a little girl got hit. i heard she was fifteen.
the driver of the decently-sized jeep got cut off by some idiot and swerved to avoid an accident. the car apparently clipped her. she ran into a little girl who was outside the building, then went through the building. the cops had to break a window to get in and get the girl, who may lose a leg. she didn't hit the girl head-on because some guy (i was told, none of this is from necessarily correct sources, mind you) grabbed her and pulled her away before the jeep hit.
the cops brought the woman who had been driving to our store to use the washroom. the woman was hysterical. granted, i didn't see her, but several witnesses say she was inconsolable. she saw the girl, but there wasn't anything she could do.
WHY HASN'T SOMEONE DONE SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ROAD YET? i want to know how many accidents happen on this road, weekly. i would guess at least once a week. apparently since irving park is a highway, the local government can't do anything about it, so it must be brought to the state government's attention. i'm gonna write some letters, people. who's with me?
